Adding Templates

Note: Here you will learn to add templates to your DynaSend library.  This section does not cover the creation of these templates.  For that information, please refer to chapter 11 of this users guide.

Step 1:  Choose a subcategory and click the “Templates” link:

Step 2:  You’ll see a listing of all the templates in this subcategory – none in this case.  Click “Add Template”

Step 3:  You’ll be prompted to complete this screen.

Template Name:  This is a descriptive name that the end-user will see when they access your library page.  It should be written to make it easy for them to find the template they are looking for when they are browsing the various choices you’ve made available to them.

Template Description:  The end-user will be able to access the template description by clicking a link called “view instructions” next to the template’s name.  This enables you to impart additional information to them as to what the template contains.  Here we tell them that Sept 15, 2005 New Product Announcement is for Macadamia Raspberry White Chocolate Cookies.

Subject Line (optional):  Whatever you type here will appear as the subject line for any new email messages being sent using this template.  You may leave this blank, and hope that the end-user fills in an appropriate subject line.

Note:  If the template is being used for a reply to a message, rather than for a new message, the original subject line will remain intact.  The following illustrates:

New Message:             SUBJECT: another delicious gourmet cookie offering

Reply to a Message:     SUBJECT:  re: are you offering any new cookie varieties soon?

Special Posting Instructions (optional):  If you include any “special posting instructions” end-users will be notified by a symbol on the library page - .

In theory, this symbol will alert end-users to click the “view instructions” link where they can read any special information you wish to pass on to them.  For example, your template may require that the user insert PRICE and QUANTITY information in the second paragraph of the pre-composed message.  These “special posting instructions” provide you with a means for communicating this information to the end-user.

Tip:  Leave the special posting instructions completely blank unless you have something that is truly important to share with the end-user.  If they are not completely blank, the alert symbol -  - will show up.  The less frequently the end-user sees this, the more impact it will have.

Step 4:  Locating and uploading your template file.  Let’s assume that we’ve created and saved the September 15th, 2005 New Product Announcement template on our computer.   See chapter 11 for complete information on how to do this.

We have named this file MRWCC.html (for Macadamia Raspberry White Chocolate Cookies).

Begin by clicking the “Browse” button:

You’ll see the standard Window’s file locate screen:

Make sure you are “looking in” the correct folder.

Then locate your saved template:

Highlight it and click OPEN.

You’ll be returned to the DynaSend “upload template” function:

Click the “Upload” button and you’re done.

Step 5:  You will now see the new template listed under the subcategory you have just placed it in.

Note:  As soon as the template is added it will become available to all end-users of this particular library page.
